Reckoned amongst the world heritage sites of UNESCO in 1988, Kandy is the second largest and real city in the Buddhist heritage country Sri Lanka afterwards Colombo. Renown as either Maha Nuwara which means great city or just Nuwara synonym to city to the natives, Kandy is the Central Province Capital of the country and also the administrative and most sacred city.

The origin of Kandy city is back to the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. Located in the heart of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an extent of tropical plantations, the city had been established by the monarch of the Kingdom of Gampola- the Vikramabahu III. It was the capital of Sri Lanka which is also known as Sinhala until the Portuguese had conquered the region. Afterwards the city has witnessed many quick and extreme modifications during the colonial period, the UVA Rebellion and World War II era then post independent.

Golf has a long history in the island however Sri Lanka as a golf destination may not be renowned globally. With three excellent golf courses: Victoria Golf & Country Resort, The Royal Colombo Golf Club and Nuwara Eliya Golf Club the country offers an ideal golf holiday escape. Near Kandy the Victoria Golf & Country Resort which is veiled in the central hilltops is absolutely a magnificently beautiful course with the water and mountains backdrops. Compared to the international standards green fees are economical here.

Kandy is blessed with some amazing tourist attractions including Temple of Tooth, The Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, The Old Royal Palace, Gadaladeniya Temple, The Lankathilake Temple, The Tea Museum, Commonwealth War Cemetery and many more. In the month of July-August, Kandy Esala Perehera, an annual 10 days ritual of the Sacred Tooth Temple takes place which invites many tourists. Apart from sight-seeing Kandy is an exhilarating shopping destination owing to its traditional Kandyan arts and crafts and precious stone studded souvenirs. The town Centre near to the pleasing lake of Kandy, there are some amusing old shops, antique and gemstone specialists shops, a bustling market and a nice cluster of good hotels, guesthouses and restaurants.

Overall Kandy is sophisticated contemporary city which shields the essence of its eternal temples and history. Kandy offers an impressive enriching experience to you as with large lake, greenery and lush culture it becomes a refreshing holiday destination for golfers and non-golfers.
Once ex-professional golfer Kitrina Douglas gave her feedback on Victoria Golf Club: “This will be one of the Top 10 Golf Courses in the world. It offers a challenge to even the most accomplished player." 30 minute drive from the city and 12
miles from the center of Kandy Victoria Golf Course was voted as ‘Best Golf Course 2005' by Asian Golf Monthly Magazine and one of the top 100 'Most Beautiful Courses in The World' selected by Golf Digest Magazine.

The Par 73, 7000-yard golf course established in 1997and since then it became renowned for its enormous backdrop of the undulating hills of the Knuckles and the crystal clean waters of the Victoria Reservoir. The 18 hole course of Victoria Golf & Country Resort give a skill check to the professional golfers. According to Golf Architect Donald Steel "Some golf courses have a splendid undulating terrain over which the holes are routed. Some golf courses have a scenic backdrop of hills and lakes, which excite the senses. However, the Victoria Golf Course near Kandy is blessed with both attributes."

Victoria's signature hole is the par 4, 6th. The main wonder is the mixture of nature magnificence and tee box hanging on a peak 100 ft. above the fairway. The main feature of this course is the continual changing in height, whether you are examining the fairways from 100 feet below or trying to discover greens with the complicated putting surfaces. Another distinctive feature is each hole has its own unique challenge as it travel over the tree lined fairways. Designed by the British Golf Architects - Donald Steel & Co the 517 acre spread course has taken proper benefit of the asymmetrical beauty of hillside, coconut trees and splendid plantations and the lake to invent one of the most gorgeous golf courses of the subcontinent of Asia.

Absolutely it is a big yes for both the golf players and learners to visit and explore the beauty of Kandy as well as testing their golfing skills in a quiet ambiance along with excellent accommodation, feasting, and leisure amenities in Victoria Golf & Country Resort.

Golf Tip

Before You Swing; Posture Is Natural - By Greg Norman

There's no need to agonize over getting the 'ideal' position at address. Here's a simple way to find it.

Without a club in your hand, flex your knees, bend slightly from the waist, and then let your arms drop down naturally. Clap your hands together, and you'll be in the proper address posture.

It's as simple as that.

If you grip your club - any club - from this position, you should find that its sole lies flat on the ground. If it doesn't, don't change your posture, change the club.

Dear Pash India Team! We are back to Brussels and I would like to thank you for the excellent FAM trip you organized for us. Everything went perfectly well, trips, transfers, hotels thanks the Lalit Group and the superb Novotel and finally tham and due to the major developments in the country we just didn't recognize anything. Go ahead and continue to organize such beautiful trips in the future! I wish the team, a lot of success.
