It brings us pleasure to bring to you the latest issue of Swing India which extends an invitation to be at the centre of action- to be in the city of New Delhi and play at one of the iconic courses in the world. We invite to tee off from the Delhi Golf Club a memorable experience indeed!

The Delhi Golf Course is a paradise for golfers spread over 222 acres of land. Established in 1951, it is one of the most scenic golf courses in the country.

The newsletter then takes one to another beautiful part of the world and to the wonderful Netherlands also commonly called Holland. The Netherlands is in west of the European continent sharing its borders with Germany to the east and Belgium to the south. Once a great naval power, this small nation boasts a wealth of cultural heritage and is famous for its painters, windmills, clogs and notoriously flat lands. A modern European country today, it preserved its highly international character and is known for its liberal mentality. It is also a founding member of EU and NATO, and host to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

A game of golf here will be exhilarating. We recommend one of the best courses in the country called the Noordwijkse Golf Club. It is one among the finest golf course in Holland, ranked second in Continental Europe. Founded in 1915 it offers an exciting and challenging 18 hole golf course for a perfect game of golf.

ON THE SPOTLIGHT

The Kingdom of the Netherlands, which is more popularly known as Holland is a premium destination in Europe.

Over one fourth of Holland is under sea level. It is one of the most densely populated countries of the European Union that mostly speak Dutch, German and English. Three big European rivers including Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt reach the ocean via the Netherlands and create an important delta.

Holland’s capital Amsterdam is a charming city, which is best viewed from water! One of the best day trips in Holland is a trip to Delft and The Hague. The Hague is also known for the Peace Palace. Holland stands for country’s positive elements and literally speaking sounds more hospitable than its official name ‘the Netherlands’.

Noordwijkse Golf Club is the finest golf course in Holland and one among the best in continental Europe. Its location near the North Sea shore, offers breathtaking panoramic views of nature at its best. Further, the classic links course on undulating
links land with windy holes through the dunes and occasionally through pine woods makes this course very challenging.

Founded in 1915, in early days the Noordwijkse Golf Club was based out of a nine-hole links until 1971. The club then shifted a little north of the town and into a heavy dune land property close to the North Sea that had enough room for a full eighteen-hole layout, blessed with ideal golfing terrain.

The modern Noordwijkse was designed by Englishman Frank Pennink, apparently with the assistance of club Secretary Paul de Jong. Pennink’s routing takes one to all points of the compass with holes laid out across pretty dramatic sand hills. Sensibly on such an exposed site the holes are not over designed, most greens are small, flat and generally flanked by single traps, which is just ideal for a memorable game of golf.

Delhi has always been an important cultural and political hub and a microcosm of India. It is a city with a lot of energy and amalgamation of varied experiences. A city that has been a witness to many civilisation rise and face extinction- it is one of the most historical cities to live in.

Juxtaposed beautifully with the old world lies the new modern megapolis which boasts of all what a modern capital of this great country should have- a state of the art international airport, world class hotels, great infrastructure and a very user friendly transport system.

For golfers, the city of Delhi has a special significance. It is city which boasts of a very rich past as the seat of various empires, magnificent monuments, rich nightlife and diverse cultures besides some of world’s best golf courses. As a result, before or after a superb game of golf, international tourists can visit captivating ancient monuments, fascinating museums art galleries, a vivacious performing-arts scene, and plethora fabulous eating places in bustling markets.

Delhi Golf Course is best described as a paradise for golfers while situated in the heart of the capital city of New Delhi. Established in 1951, it is one of the most scenic in the world and among the top premier golf courses in India.

It is located on prime real estate, on Dr. Zakir Hussain Road, near India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb and the Delhi zoo. DGC comprises 18 hole course which is part of the Asian PGA Tour, and a shorter 9 hole course famously known as the Peacock Course and sprawling club house with a swimming pool.

An avid golfer playing at the Delhi Golf Club can imagine oneself living in the history-the reign of the Lodis and era of kings and emperors.

The course has a very rich past. It has been patronised by kings, Viceroys, generals and other high ranking officials. Even today, one comes across many influential and rich people from all walks of life enjoying a game of golf here at the Delhi Golf Club.

One of the most fascinating things about golf is how it reflects the cycle of life. No matter what you shoot — the next day you have to go back to the first tee and begin all over again and make yourself into something. (Peter Jacobsen)

Golf Tip
Part I: Before You Swing
Lesson #4: Aim The Clubface First

Accurate alignment would be a simple matter if we could stand directly on the line that extends from our ball to the target. But the fact is that we stand to the side of the ball, and that makes alignment tough. For this reason, I don't even try to align my body to the target until after I have aligned my clubface.

Holding the club in my right hand only, I approach the ball from behind. While I do this, I sight up and down the line that extends from the ball to my target, looking for a spot a few yards in front of my ball and on that line. Once I find that, I set the clubface behind the ball, and swivel it minutely back and forth until it is pointing directly at the spot.

Only after the clubface is squarely in position do I assume my grip and align my body in the address position

Dear Madhu,

First of all it was really wonderful! India is incredible, colorful and great. For us, and we travel a lot and everywhere in the world, it was one of our best trips we ever did. It was interesting to see the culture, it was very interesting to learn a lot about your country the people and the life there. It changed some things totally and we are still happy that we did the trip like we wanted to do.

The hotels were very good. The Oberoi Delhi, Taj Mahal Palace are excellent. The Leela Goa was also very nice a good location to relax after all the travelling.

The best are Amby Valley (views) and Oxford (conditions). It is difficult to say which one is the No. 1. Oxford Golf & Country Club was good.

Transportation, Drivers, and Guides ale very good and very nice people. Sightseeing was good and more than enough.

The representatives of LPTI have been all very nice and very helpful. It was all perfect organized and all people were always in time.

Best regards

Ulrich
