Incredible India Golf Tourism Summit 2014 a resounding success

To promote golf tourism in India, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India organised Incredible India Golf Tourism Summit 2014 in association with FICCI and India Golf Tourism Association IGTA. The Summit was held in New Delhi from October 8-10, 2014 and culminated with an Incredible India Golf Tourism Award , Incredible India Golf Tournament and FAM trips to golf courses for the hosted tour operators from across the world specialising in Golf Tourism.

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India promotes 15 signature golf courses of India at every road show and opportunity that arises to attract foreign golf tourists to India and make the country a preferred golfing destination.

Countries like Japan and Hong Kong have shortage of golf courses and golfers of these nations can come to India and play golf at a comparatively low cost. India has 220 golf courses, of which 30 are of professional level and 15 signature golf courses. Golf tourism is growing at a rate of 9.3% per year and there are about 1.6 million golfers who travel every year to golfing destinations. Hence, there is a huge opportunity and scope to promote golf tourism in India.

The highlight of the summit was the structured, pre-scheduled B2B meetings in the two days between hosted industry handpicked leading foreign tour operators from across 30 countries who specialise in golf tourism with the stakeholders of this niche area from India, besides the interactive conclave pondering over critical issues on day one.

Golf Tip
Part I: Before You Swing
Lesson #10: Suit Yourself

There is no such thing as the 'ideal' ball position. What works for me may not work for you. You might be able to position your ball at least one ball-width forward of where I do and up to two ball-widths farther back.

For each individual, the optimum ball position is at the very bottom of the swing arc. For a short, stout person with a flattish swing arc, that position will likely be relatively far back in the stance. A tall person will have a higher centre of gravity and swing with more lateral movement, which will mean a more forward position. But just as important as your height is how 'leggy' your swing is. Players with active leg action, such as Lee Trevino, should play the ball more forward than those with quieter legs and an active upper body, who tend to trap the ball at an earlier point in the swing in the manner of Arnold Palmer.

The ultimate answer, however, is that your ideal ball position is the spot from which you play your best golf. You owe it to yourself, when you're striking the ball with crispness and consistency, to take careful note of the position of the ball in your stance.

Respected Chitaranjan saheb,

Let me first thank you for all those efforts you did to make our stay comfortable and safe in India and particularly the heroic role you played in our evacuation from the severest flood hit; the Vale of kashmir. I am not yet out of that trauma I had to pass through in the deluged Srinagar. That horrible experience has changed my perception about life and death totally. I have come to know new meanings of fear, valour, sympathy, compassion, companionship and humanity.

However, I owe a lot to you . Your hospitality, care and concern were undoubtedly matchless! I once again thank you for your favour and kindness extended to us during our unforgettable time in India.

With sincerest regards
Ayesha javed
