South Africa is a fabulous destination for every golf enthusiast. Numerous beautiful courses complimented with an ideal golfing climate, golfers here are blessed for choice. Whether it's the challenge of a coastal course or at altitude, where the ball flies that much further, and the selection is diverse.

The country's golfing precedents were set by the incredible Gary Player, who is inextricably linked with the Sun City Golf Resort in the rugged hinterland near Johannesburg, where a select band of professionals vie for the annual Million Dollar Challenge. While Sun City was for many years the leader in South African golf, and still sets the benchmark, but there is a new kid on the block in the shape of the awesome Fancourt Resort. Boasting a number of the country's premier courses, Fancourt has burst on to the scene as one of the world's best new golf destinations.

It's no news if we say South Africa is a golf playing nation, since it has produced a number of golfers of the highest calibre, including Gary Player, Bobby Locke, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Trevor. Play on any one and you'll begin to understand why.

South Africa has long been a popular destination for wildlife safari, but in recent decades it has boarded the golfing bandwagon, and now boasts some of the world's finest resorts. The country’s impressive natural beauty and incredible terrain has given way to make South Africa a Golf Destination.

These golfing options are enriched by the possibility of combining your holiday with a safari excursion to see the legendary ‘Big 5'. More and more golfing enthusiasts are visiting South Africa to see what all the fuss is about, and are coming back converted. So, make South Africa your next golf holiday destination and rate it by yourself.
Cape Town and Johannesburg enjoy an advantage over other South African destinations because of their international airports, allowing visitors direct access to numerous courses.

Cape Town is undisputedly one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world. The city offers an extraordinary diversity of scenery, attractions and world class golf courses. City’s mediterranean climate allows for golf all year round. With Table Mountain as its backdrop, Cape Town is a golf destination every golfer should visit at least once in their lifetime. Clovelly Golf Course is a must play golf course for all visitors in this region. Its scenic beauty and abundant birdlife make it the first choice golf course for most golfers in Cape Town, South Africa.

Outside Johannesburg and Cape Town, in the beautiful southern Cape, lies a town called George that boasts four courses and attract many golf lovers.
South Africa must have convinced your golfer spirit by now, so start planning your golfing safari now!
Featured Golf Club The Links Course at Fancourt
Situated in George on the Garden Route, it is Africa's premier golfing resort and features four 18-hole championship golf courses. The three of these courses are originally designed Gary Player including The Links, which Gary Player has often referred to as his greatest design feat. The Links, Montagu & Outeniqua golf courses are all ranked in the Top 20 in South Africa.
The Links is featured on 30th place by the Golf Digest magazine (US Conde Nast publication) in their list of Top 100 courses outside US.

Sculpted and finished with rare attention to detail and designed with the coastal George winds in mind, a round on either is an experience in itself.
In addition, Fancourt has an exceptional golf academy that houses a TaylorMade Fitment Centre and state-of-the-art golf training facilities, backed up by the expertise of PGA professionals. To engage golfers some more, there are two well-stocked pro shops, offering a wide variety of clothing, accessories and hardware

The Links at Fancourt is an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course construction, about which designer Gary Player says: “I feel a genuine affinity for Fancourt having been involved from day one as a designer of the original golf courses, I experienced one of the greatest thrills of my golf career here when captaining the International Presidents Cup team against Jack Nicklaus’ American team, and it is the home of perhaps my greatest achievement as a golf course designer, The Links.”

The Links at Fancourt is undoubtedly one of the most impressive pieces of golf design and construction ever in South Africa. Fancourt owner Dr Hasso Plattner, who took a very hands-on approach in the creation thereof, commissioned a golf course which would not only be a thorough test for every golfer, but would also rank among the top courses in the world.

Player’s design team spent months studying the classic links courses of Scotland and Ireland and then, armed with inspiration from the best that those countries had to offer, embarked on the ambitious task of recreating some of their finest holes to make a genuine links test on what was once an airfield. The result is breathtaking and has elicited praise from some of the world’s finest golfers.

The Links has been the host venue for many prestigious events like the 2003 Presidents Cup, 2005 Women’s Golf World Cup; 2005 South African Open; 2010 Berenberg Bank Senior Masters and the most recent 2012 the Volvo Golf Champions.
The Links is a private Club, but limited tee times are available for guests staying in the Hotel at Fancourt. .

Featured Destination – Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir

The Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir consists of three regions: Jammu, the Kashmir valley and Ladakh. Lying on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, Srinagar is the mesmerizing summer capital of the state. The city boasts of myriad attractions - placid mountain-backed Dal Lake with its slumbering houseboats, famous Mughal gardens, the historic wooden mosques of the old town and a remarkable wealth of home-grown handicrafts.

Srinagar is one of several places that have been called the "Venice of the East". It is known for its lakes, which include Dal Lake and Nagin Lake.

Srinagar has some Mughal gardens, forming a part of those laid by the Mughal emperors across the Indian subcontinent. Those of Srinagar and its close vicinity include Chashma Shahi (the royal fountains); Pari Mahal (the palace of the fairies); Nishat Bagh (the garden of spring); Shalimar Bagh; and the Naseem Bagh. The Tulip Gardens have been recently opened to public by Sonia Gandhi.

The Sher Garhi Palace houses administrative buildings from the state government. Another palace of the Maharajas, the Gulab Bhavan, has now become the Lalit Grand Palace hotel.

Srinagar offers a unique opportunity to play golf in invigorating surroundings, where the wind whispers through enormous trees of chinar and stately pine. The best time to play here is the summer season from April to November.

In the verdant golf courses at Srinagar and Gulmarg, you will be able to play for longer hours than you can in the plains because of the lower temperatures – Srinagar’s highest temperature seldom goes above 35°C. During the summers, while the plains are boiling, Srinagar's temperate climate allows the golfer to play longer hours without getting tired. During winters, the courses in Srinagar are closed only when snowbound.

If you plan to play golf regularly during the entire duration of your stay in Kashmir, a temporary membership can be availed, which will enable you to use the course for as long as you are here. Naturally the membership entitles you to use the clubhouse restaurant facilities. You can hire a golf set and balls for the day from the pro-shops at Gulmarg. Whether you want to brush up your play, or simply learn golf for the first time, there are competent trainers at both clubs. The layout of both the courses, too, will delight the golfers.

Featured Golf Club – Royal Spring Golf Course, Srinagar
Spanning an expense of 300 acres near the famous Chashma Shahi, The Royal Spring Golf Course was designed and laid out by the World renowned Golf architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr. II, who has designed about 500 courses all over the World, including in Bangkok and China. The picturesque course is located overlooking the famous Dal Lake against the dramatic backdrop of Zabarwan hills. The setting is a combination of aesthetic delight and golfing pleasure.
Designed in 2001, the 18 holes, 6445 meters course at a par of 72 offers a challenge to all levels of players, and is now widely acknowledged as the best Golf Course in India. It is managed by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation, a government institution.

Regarded as one of the most picturesque golf course in Asia, its fairways are turfed with cool weather and grass of different shades. Rye, Kentucky blue and tall frescoes trees, bordering the fairways, lend a touch of color throughout the golfing season.

Overlooking the golf course, in the hillside, is a heritage structure named Pari Mahal, built by Prince Dara Shikoh, son of Emperor Shah Jahan, during Mughal period. The golf course also harbors a rare groove of cork oaks, which were imported from Europe and planted by last Dorga Maharaj Hari Singh before independence.

Spread over 300 acres of breathtaking rolling hills, deciduous forest, lakes and wilderness; don’t be surprised if you spot the rare Hangul lurking in the thickets of the course. A wide variety of bird life can also be seen including a large number of kites at the 9th hole & 18th hole as they feast on the fish that thrive in the water bodies adjoining these holes. With many impressive features, it’s a pleasure and challenge to play on the course that is built on a forest with huge changes in undulations and scenery.

The course has quality amenities such as a Club house, motorized golf carts, locker rooms and is considered as No.1 golf course of India by Golf Digest. This golf course is one such course which is open to non-members also (not restricted to members only) and plays host to many golf tournaments like the first ever women's golf tournament in July 2012, which attracted more than 50 woman golfers across India. A palace turned into 5-star heritage hotel with deluxe cottages is also in its vicinity that can keep at luxury.

With so many tempting reasons to play on Royal Springs Golf course, it’s time for you to contact us for an exclusive golf holiday package to Kashmir.

Carl went to a career counselor to help him find a new career.
After extensive testing, the counselor told him the results, "Carl, according to our tests, you are a sadistic psychopath who enjoys inflicting pain, misery and suffering on others.
You'd make a terrific golf course designer!"
  Golf Tip
Before You Swing, Clap Hands For the Grip - By Greg Norman
I'm not an advocate of any one style of grip. Basically, I think you should hold the club in a way that's comfortable for you. However, I do believe in one rule, and the best way to test it is by clapping your hands.

Take your stance without a club, allowing your arms to hang naturally. Then bring your hands together, palms flat. In this position, note that your palms are parallel. This is the one 'must' of a sound grip -- a palms-parallel position -- as it allows the hands to work as one unit instead of fighting each other.

Now assume your usual grip on the club, and then open your hands, straightening out your fingers while continuing to hold the club between your palms. Are your palms parallel? If not, you should work them back into the clap-hands position and reassume your grip.

In an ideal neutral grip, the back of your left hand and the palm of your right will be facing your target. With a slightly weak grip the alignment will be a bit toward the ground, and with a slightly strong grip the hands will tilt a bit toward the sky. Neither of these is necessarily bad, as long as the palms are parallel.

Dear Pash India Team! We are back to Brussels and I would like to thank you for the excellent FAM trip you organized for us. Everything went perfectly well, trips, transfers, hotels thanks the Lalit Group and the superb Novotel and finally the golfs. Compared to our previous experiences, this trip was just a dream and due to the major developments in the country we just didn't recognize anything. Go ahead and continue to organize such beautiful trips in the future! I wish the team, a lot of success.
