If you want to discover a trip in Europe with exquisite scenery, high standard of accommodation, economical cuisine and relish golfing in Gary Player signature courses or Ian Woosnam signature course then you must make a trip to Varna especially during April to October.

Varna is the largest city and capital of Bulgaria as well as the administrative center of the homonymous province. It's a modern cosmopolitan place and a nice one to scroll through: Baroque, turn-of-the-century and contemporary architecture pleasantly blended with shady promenades and a handsome seaside garden.

Varna's origins back to almost five eras, but it wasn't until marine Greeks founded a colony here in 585 BC that town became a port. Nowadays Varna is the largest city on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast and is the main port for both naval and commercial shipping also the host city of numerous prestigious cultural events.

There are some interesting truths about the city. Near the port of Varna, the oldest gold treasure in the world; dated from 4,500 BC was found in 1972; an ancient necropolis with 280 tombs and 3,010 golden objects were found weighing over 6 kg. According to experts it is the oldest processed gold ever found in Europe.

The 11 kilometer long city lies in the Bay of Varna, nestled in a deep valley between the Frengen Plateau and the Avren Plateau. The city's structure resembles an amphitheater as it follows the curves of the Bay of Varna and surrounded by gardens, vineyards besides groves.

Varna is also becoming recognized as the golfing capital of Bulgaria with 3 world class golf courses all within 10 minutes of one another, which are Thracian Cliffs, Lighthouse and BlackSeaRama. In Thracian Cliffs you can expect to play a golf course which will deliver a golfing experience like none other. The courses are located only 40 minute drives north from Varna airport along with some beautiful seaside resorts and stunning beaches.

Here you can explore a staggering amount of well-priced restaurants and bars that combine a good quality service and an extremely friendly atmosphere. While on your golf holiday take a trip to The Palace and Botanical Gardens of Balchik, to experience a beautiful attraction away from the outstanding golf courses.

While it is a relatively new golf holiday destination, Varna is certain to provide every visitor with a memorable experience, whether that is golf, beaches, spa breaks or nightlife it is a great destination for golfers and non-golfers alike. Varna can provide a fantastic choice for you; whether you like relaxing on white sandy beaches or immersing yourself in the country's fine culture, you are sure to leave feeling more than fulfilled.
"The golf course is the most spectacular that anyone has ever played on. Forget Sperone or Pebble Beach this course is breathtaking! It is a 'must play'." This is the undisputed feedback from all golfers after their visit in Thracian Cliffs Golf Club.
Designed for the course, internationally-renowned designer and the most successful international golfer Gary Player has said: "You will not find a golf course like this anywhere else on the planet."

Framed by the rugged coastal cliffs of the region and the deep blue of the Black Sea, the resort's 18-hole course is not only one of the most dramatically beautiful golf layouts on earth, it is also one of the sports' most unusual championship courses. As, both of its two front-nine par fives, the 2nd and 3rd holes - are placed back-to-back as are its two par threes, the 5th and 6th holes. Carefully selected multiple tees on every hole allow players of all levels to be both challenged in their play and inspired by the incredible views. Covering 164 hectares of wild scenic terrain, the course stretches 4.5 kilometers along the coast bestowing a truly exhilarating golf experience.

Located on the beautiful Marina Village circle, a 50 minute drive from Varna International Airport, which serves direct flights from many international destinations, the Club House offers golfers a comfortable place to meet, have a casual meal or drink as they begin their adventure on the course besides golf school and practice facilities and as they return to ruminate of the highlights of the day.

In Thracian Cliffs Golf Club, Bulgaria has hosted the European Tour's 50th Volvo World Golf Championship this May. Over a year back, Volvo has moved the premier match-play championship to Thracian Cliffs in the Balkans and according to them it is undoubtedly a great deal about the quality of a course that has been likened to Pebble Beach in Northern California.

Definitely recommend place for golf players, for golf learners and for those who just want to relish 1-2 days in a great resort with an amazing sea view, breath-taking green scenery, spacious rooms and good service, as well as luxurious spa treatments of the resort spa along with classic Bulgarian and Provence cuisine of The Geti Restaurant, The Bendida Beach Restaurant with Mediterranean ambience and the Argata Beach Restaurant.

& the Dal Lake around the corner, the course is spread over 300 acres of rolling hills, native deciduous forest, lakes and wilderness with the occasional marsh. Designed by the American golfer Robert Trent Jones Jr. and managed by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation, it is considered as No.1 golf course of India by Golf Digest and has quality amenities like motorized golf carts, club house, health club, Table Tennis, Snooker, Sauna etc. In July 2012 first ever women's golf tournament was conducted in this course, at Srinagar valley, which attracted more than 50 woman golfers across India.

The palaces of the former Maharaja of Kashmir, now a 5-star hotel is in close vicinity, as are a number of tourist cottages. The magnificent ruins of Pari Mahal built by Dara Shikoh, son of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan dominate the landscape from all the angles but are seen to particular advantage ascending the fourteenth fairway. The entire area of this golf course was carved out of a forest; the club is built in the style of the old Kashmiri architecture.

The golf course harbors a rare groove of cork oaks, planted by last Dorga maharaja, Hari Singh before 1947 and the plants were imported from Europe. Cork had mandate mostly for closing the bottles and the cork oaks and other trees escaped felling at the time of construction of the golf course.

The 18 holes, 6445 meter course at a par of 72 gives a golfer very challenging job. The most talked about hole here is the famous par-3 fifth, which offers a panoramic view of the Dal Lake from an elevated tee. The 6th and 7th holes are easy for the average golfer before the dog leg eighth par 4 with its temptation to the ambitious golfer and the lakeside 9th brings into the Club House for a much needed drink.

The course is named the ROYAL SPRINGS since they have four actual water springs in the vicinity. These springs were the source of soft sweet water, prized by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir. This course is open to non-members also to explore the magnificence of Grapes Orchard, Peach Farm and Turf Nursery. Truly it is one of the most picturesque golf courses in Asia.

Take swinging to another level of exellence. Play at some of the most sought after golf courses in the country!!!

India's community of golfers and golf enthusiasts is a fairly young one and the sport has only started to take course more prominently over the past two decades or so. However, even with its young entry into the domestic leisure and sport scene, golf has found a large and varied following from business men and women looking to make stronger networks, club in hand, to leisure players and young school students who are taking to the sport with ambitions of making it to the PGA Tour.

Do you find yourself waiting for your next vacation or weekend break to head for the well manicured lawns among the tea estates of Naharkatia in Assam or enjoy a bit of cool air while teeing off in Pahalgam and Srinagar in Kashmir? Start learning the game or make a practice session of your time in Aamby Valley in Maharashtra or try your Jeev Milkha Singh swings at the Ananda Golf Course in the Uttarakhand Himalayas. Follow a challenging game with a session of spa treatments to ease those aching arms.

Ready for the hard stuff? Gurgaon and Greater Noida's courses will test your game acumen with some of the most challenging greens in India.

Golf Humor

One golfer asked his friend, "Why are you so late in arriving for your tee time?"

His friend replied, "Its Sunday. I had to toss a coin between going to church or playing golf."

"Yes," continued the friend, "but that still doesn't tell me why you are so late."

"Well," said the fellow, "It took over 25 tosses to get it right!"

Golf Tip
Before You Swing; Aim The Clubface First - By Greg Norman

Accurate alignment would be a simple matter if we could stand directly on the line that extends from our ball to the target. But the fact is that we stand to the side of the ball, and that makes alignment tough. For this reason, I don't even try to align my body to the target until after I have aligned my clubface.

Holding the club in my right hand only, I approach the ball from behind. While I do this, I sight up and down the line that extends from the ball to my target, looking for a spot a few yards in front of my ball and on that line. Once I find that, I set the clubface behind the ball, and swivel it minutely back and forth until it is pointing directly at the spot.

Only after the clubface is squarely in position do I assume my grip and align my body in the address position.
Thank you for organizing such a wonderful trip. Weather was fantastic, the chosen courses were fabulous. Some courses were quite challenging and tight and put a real good test to my golfing skills. It was a good break and even the culture add-ons in the tour were quite insightful.
